Abstract

This article aims to illustrate the comparative linguistics science, its deveoplments, research areas, objectives, and how it is subjected to several scientific procedures. The study employs the descriptive analytical approach. It is divided into an introduction and six sections. Section 1 addresses boundaries and roots. Section 2 discusses the condition and approach. Secion 3 presents the concepts and terminologies in this science. Section 4 spells out language classification. Section 5 presents linguistic trees. Section six focusses on  language evolution and death. It concludes that language is human-like in many of its aspects as it is born, grows, develops and dies so as to give birth to a new language. It is also found that studying factors pertinent to this issue opens windows to vast fields of constant clash of civilization, religions and people, paying much attention to the comprehensive environmental disasters for showing  how to dry the roots of a language existence.
