Culture and (Un-) Translatability with Particular Reference to Fiction

Abstract

#This research aims to study the relationship between culture and (in)translatability in the field of literature, focusing on the dynamic interface of language and culture. The research followed an analytical descriptive methodology and consisted of an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. The introduction presented the research problem and the theoretical framework. The first section addressed the interplay between language and culture, while the second section discussed the interpretation of cultural signs using language and the issue of understanding and misunderstanding resulting from faulty translation. The conclusion included the key findings, including the need for understanding the culture of both the translated and target languages in literary translation. Translating such texts requires translating beyond the surface-level content.
