Abstract

This article aims to  identify the causes of salinity and its impacts on the arid and semi-arid areas. The study  employs the descriptive approach. It is divided into an introduction, and two sections. Section 1 presents both nature-caused and human-made causes of salinity. Section 2 addresses the saline soils, identifying its effect and cohabitation with salinity. It concludes that geographic environment factors whether nature-caused or human-made interact with each other due to emerging and exacerbating the soil salinity problem.
