This article aims to clarify Almaqaleh’s critical vision of introductions to contemporary poetry divans, and the features of the artistic standard favored by Almaqaleh in his introductions. The study employs the descriptive analytical approach. It is divided into four sections. Section 1 introduces the importance of criticism. Section 2 addresses the trends of criticism represented by the social and psychological trends, structural criticism, criticism of criticism, and reality criticism. Section 3 highlights Almaqaleh’s critical approach in terms of covering the poet lives, exploring the work of art thoroughly, analyzing, interpreting and judging it. Section 4 tackled modernity and heritage, and experimentation. It also tackles the recipient and the critic’s personality. It concludes with a number of findings, including Almaqaleh’s artistic standard several characteristics such as quality, influence, innovation, considering poetry a representation of the entire society.
