Extravagance and the Extravagants in the Light of the Holy Qur’an

Abstract

The research aimed to highlight the types of extravagance and extravagants mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and study them in light of objective interpretation. The inductive-descriptive approach was adopted. The research started with an introduction to define extravagance linguistically and terminologically which is followed by three sections; the first: Types of extravagance, the second: Types of extravagants, the third: The impact of extravagance on nations and individuals, then a conclusion. The most important findings are: The words extravagance and extravagants are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an explicitly in 26 places, and in many places as a hint by their characteristics or condition. Extravagance includes many forms and is not limited to spending as some understand it.
