Thematic and Structural Consistency in the Story of Luqman in the Holy Qur’an

Abstract

The research aimed to highlight the extent of thematic and structural consistency in the story of Luqman in the Holy Qur’an. The historical-analytical approach was adopted. The research was presented in an introduction followed by three sections; the first is a historical study of the character of Luqman and his story in the Qur’an, the second is an objective study of the story, the third is an artistic stylistic study of the story and a conclusion. The most important findings are: The research clarified the confusion among interpreters and historians about the character of Luqman that appeared in the Qur’an and that is narrated in history. Surat Luqman was distinguished in the way it presented Allah’s approach and His signs in the universe and the soul. Surat Luqman included a number of objective dimensions and artistic secrets which aimed to persuade and entertain, as well as the educational and exhortative functions.
