Problems encountering Secondary Schools Teachers in Public and Private Schools in Aden governorat for the school year 2010/2011

Abstract

This research aims to identify the Problems encountering secondary schools teachers in public and private schools from their point of view.

The research sample which was randomly chosen consisted of (160) teachers ;( 98) of them from public schools and (62) from public schools.

The research used the analytical descriptive approach, and the questionnaire as a tool of data collection. The questionnaire consisted of four settings; setting one: psychological problems (8 items), setting two: professional problems (10 items), setting three: administrative problems (7items), setting four: students' problems (5 items).

The research used the following statistics: weighted mean, standard deviation, t- test and one way Anova.

     The findings revealed the following:

 - Most of the problems that face secondary schools teachers from their point of view are problems related to students (.87) and psychological problems (.81).

- Most of the problems that cause psychological pressure to teachers and influence their teaching performance are overloaded working, large numbers of students in each class, low salaries, no motivations and limited cooperation between teachers and students' parents to solve students' problem.

 - The differences are not statistically significant between the point of view of secondary schools teachers regarding the administrative and students' problems in general according to job experience variable. However, there are statistically significant differences between the point of view of secondary schools teachers regarding the psychological and professional problems, most of the differences are in favor of teachers with experience of more than 30 years according to Scheffe - test (table 9).

 - There are no statistically significant differences between the point of view of secondary schools teachers (males and females) regarding the problems facing them in general and the psychological, professional, administrative, and students' problems according to gender variable.

- There are no statistically significant differences between the point of view of secondary schools teachers regarding the problems facing them in general and the administrative and students' problems according to school type variable. However, there are statistically significant differences between the point of view of secondary schools teachers regarding the psychological and professional problems, most of the differences are in favor of private schools teachers.

- Private schools teachers suffer from psychological and profession more than public schools teachers do.
