Abstract

The research aimed to draw the attention to the danger of mixing Islam and Islamic thought in contemporary Islamic circles by revealing that confusion and its manifestations. The descriptive-analytical approach was adopted and the research was presented in three sections; The first: methodological introduction, the second: the terminology of the study, and the third: manifestations of confusion. It ended with a conclusion.

The most important results are: There are two manifestations of confusion; the first is when intellectual and jurisprudential diligence presents all speculative issues and developments in contemporary situation in a definitive manner that creates the illusion that this is the definitive rule of Islam. As for the second, it represented the introduction of Islam, with its origins, the certainties of its texts, and the constants of its law, within the term of Islamic thought, and subjecting it to criticism and evaluation under the pretext of practicing diligence and innovation. The two aspects indicate an intellectual crisis in contemporary circles.
