Abstract

#The aim of this research is to study the production of thin films deposited on a 1 mm thick glass substrate using Rhodamine 6G dye, with a refractive index of 1.3 in a vacuum chamber. The research followed an experimental methodology and included a theoretical introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter focused on laboratory experiments where the thickness of the thin film was measured using the interference phenomenon with a He-Ne laser of 1 µW power during the deposition process. The intensity of incident and transmitted laser wavelengths in the produced films was then measured, ranging from the visible range (532 nanometers) to the near-infrared region (1064 nanometers). The second chapter involved the researchers using these intensities to calculate the transmission and reflection ratios of the thin film as a function of wavelength, and to derive the absorption index and coefficient of the thin films. The conclusion presented the most important results, including that the measured and calculated values during natural polishing of the thin films serve as a good indicator that this material can be used as filters in certain wavelength ranges. It also noted some variations in the results, which can be attributed to the non-uniform deposition of some non-adherent thin films.
