Denounced Hadith and its Concept and Rules: A Study Applied in Sunan Abi Dawood

This paper aimed to show what scholars meant by the term ''denounced'' (munkar), and know their schools (mathaheb) and the meaning of this term through doing practical applications in Sunan Abi Dawood. The research was ranged into an introduction, four sections, and a conclusion. The first section defined the denounced hadith, the second section dealt with the rules of the denounced hadith, the third section dealt with the denounced hadith with Abi Dawood, while the fourth section dealt with the denounced hadith with hadith scholars. Finally, a number of conclusions were reached; the most important ones were: the definitions of the denounced hadith with scholars were differently multiple due to the to five schools available; each school has its own viewpoint. The authoritative school in defining the denounced hadith was the school of pubic scholars and Imam Ahmed's term used in judging a hadith as ''denounced'' was a wide term of multiple meanings. However, it was possible to elicit a number of rules that can be used to identify denounced hadiths.
