Ibn Khaldoon's Origination for Philosophy of History in the Modern and Contemporary European Thought: A Study and Analysis

Abstract

This paper aimed to know Ibn Khaldoon's efforts in originating the philosophy of history in the modern and contemporary European thought by collecting evidences of multiple witnesses and confessions in his genius in innovating two important disciplines: sociology and philosophy of history; and approaching and comparing between him and the giants of  philosophy of modern and contemporary European history. Using a comparative research methodology, the research was divided into two parts. Part I was devoted to show the Khaldoonian originality and the historical origination for the philosophy of history based on witnesses and confessions of famous European philosophers of history. Part II was concerned with the Khaldoonian origination for the philosophy of history by approaching and comparing between his arguments and European philosophers' who acknowledged his works. The research concluded that Ibn Khaldoon has the priority in establishing this discipline and its theoretical and methodological rules. In addition, the rules and laws stated for establishing or destroying civilizations are still permanent until today.
