Abstract

This paper aimed to identify the differences between Ad-Dawri's two reading modes following Amr and Hafs following Asem, and show the various rich semantic aspects of those readings. The study was divided into a preface and topics, namely the seven letters in the Holy Quran, tashil and its types and takhfif and its types, idgham, emalah, more and less letters, ihmal and tanqeet, and parsing. The study concluded that the Quranic qerat was a result of narrations with no selection or alignment for what was agreed upon rhetorically and linguistically later on; the semantic utterances and structures were merely a result of efforts of honest and truthful people and no agreement on reading over another as a whole semantically, rhetorically, legislatively, etc. and no can prefer a reading from another at all; and all those semantic differences elicited were a result of an honest man narrating them and a trustful narration, away from partiality; all readings were from Allah as conveyed from the best mankind.
