Abstract

This study aimed to know the attitudes towards philosophy with the students of Faculty of Education, Ibb University, by addressing the following questions: what is the nature of attitude (positive, negative, or neutral)?; and are there any morally significant differences between students' attitudes towards philosophy attributed to the variables of sex, level, and major? A sample of 295 students was selected randomly from the faculty and was distributed into categories based on sex, major, and study level. Then, a 45-item questionnaire was designed to measure the students' attitudes towards philosophy. After testing its validity and reliability, it was administered to the sample of the study. After analysing the data statistically, a number of findings were revealed; most importantly: the level of attitudes towards philosophy with the students of Faculty of Education, Ibb University, was negative to some extent (M = 85.33), which was lower than the theoretical mean (90) of the measurement; and there were morally significant differences at the level (0.05) between students' attitudes towards philosophy attributed to all variables.
