Deep Self-Poetry: A Reading of Mahmoud Al-Brikan's Poetry

Abstract

The study aims to explore a significant but overlooked aspect of contemporary Arabic poetry, namely the poetic experiment of Mahmoud Al-Brikan (1931-2002). The research is divided into an introduction, four main sections, and a conclusion. The first section discusses deep self-poetry, while the second section examines the first group of Al-Brikan's poetic writings, characterized by fragmented writing. The third section focuses on the second group, which reveals the preoccupation with awaiting destiny. The fourth section explores the third group, which reflects the equation of the troubled human existence. The research has led to several conclusions, including the recognition that although Al-Brikan had a long hiatus from poetry, spanning decades at times, he was not absent from the transformations witnessed by modern poetry. His texts, with their various transformations and formations, have taken on the characteristic of stages.
