Similarities and Differences between Rhetoric and Stylistics

Abstract

This article aims to identify the key points of agreement and difference between rhetoric and Western stylistics. The following topics were addressed: Introduction, History of Rhetoric, History of Stylistics, Key Points of Agreement between Rhetoric and Stylistics, Key Points of Difference between Rhetoric and Stylistics. The study key findings revealed that stylistics was an extension of Arabic rhetoric rather than its successor, and the foundation of the emergence of stylistics was Arabic rhetoric.
