The study aims to explore the effectiveness of the participatory research approach in actualizing a sustainable and well-managed water resource system in Yemen. Additionally, the study seeks to establish a foundation for community participation in decision-making processes when developing plans and strategies that address the current and future water projects in Yemen. The findings revealed that it was necessary to establish a shared agenda for governmental and voluntary work, leading to a solid foundation for integrated action in water basins within arid regions. Furthermore, there was a need to increase directed efforts to facilitate community participation in managing existing water projects within the frameworks of water policies and legislation in the Republic of Yemen.
