The Environmental Awareness Of The Basic School Students in Ibb City

The present study aims at identifying the environmental concepts in curriculum document of environmental education for Basic school, measuring the environmental awareness for Basic school pupils and the differences in environmental awareness amonr basic scool pupils in Ibb govrnorate attributing to the variables of gender ( male and female ) and territory ( countryside and urban). The sample of the study consists of (289) pupils. The descriptive methodology is used in the present study. For the purpose of collectiong data, two instruments are constructed first one is analytical content form for determining the environmental concepts and the second one is environmental awareness test which includes (32) items distributed in (8) environmental awareness dimensions. The results showed the content of curriculum document of environmental education included (45) environmental concepts, decreasing in the general level of the environmental a wareness among the pupils in Ibb governorate, Also the results indicated there are differences but not significant statically attributing to the variables of gender and territory, there are differences but not significant statically among males and females in countryside territory and urban territory, there are differences but not significant statically among male pupils in countryside territory and statically among female purples in countryside territory and urban territory.
