The Behavior Pattern (Type A) And Its Relationship to Psychosomatic Symptoms Among Faculty Members at Ibb University.

Abstract

#The study aimed to examine the level of Type A behavior pattern among faculty members at Ibb University and the nature of differences in this level according to variables such as specialization, nationality, age, and their interaction. It also sought to determine the prevalence rates of psychosomatic disorders, the level of symptoms, and the nature of differences in the level of these symptoms among faculty members according to the aforementioned variables. Furthermore, the study aimed to investigate the relationship between the level of Type A behavior pattern and the level of the mentioned symptoms among these faculty members. The study sample, selected through stratified random sampling, consisted of 75 male Yemeni and expatriate professors working at the university in the fields of humanities and sciences, aged between 30 and over 60 years, representing 42.13% of the study population. Four measurement tools were used: Jenkins Activity Survey, Researchers' prepared psychosomatic disorders checklist, Modified Cornell Psychosomatic Symptoms Checklist by the researchers, and Researchers' adaptation of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV, 1994) criteria for psychosomatic symptoms. Data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 18 and appropriate statistical methods for each objective.
