Abstract

The current research aimed  at identifying the impact of formative tests followed by feedback on scholastic achievement among the fifth grade students in sociology subject. The research sample consisted of (40) students from the fifth grade students at the Typical Schools of Alresala Generation- main branch in Yarim town- Ibb Governorate. The school was chosen intentionally while the sample was chosen randomly. The sample consisted of two classes ( an experimental group and a control group). The experimental group received corrective feedback but the control group did not receive corrective feedback.

A semi-experimental design, based on two equivalent groups(an experimental group and a  control group), was used. Formative tests and pre-post achievement tests were prepared.The equivalence of the two groups was verified by the diagnostic test of their previous knowledge. The research also included a number of models and study plans related to subjects of the chosen unit, which were applied to the research sample in the second semester of the year (2017 - 2018).

At the end of the experiment, data was collected, analyzed and processed statistically. The study showed  the following results: 1- There were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) for the value of  'Kay square' among the average grade levels of the students of the experimental group in the applications of the three formative tests. 2 - There were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the averages of students in the experimental and control groups in the final test scores and in favor of the experimental group
