The Impact of Arrogance and Envy on Deviating from The Correct Creed and Ways to Address It

Abstract

#This research sheds light on its importance regarding the elucidation of the impact of arrogance and envy on deviating from the correct creed and ways to address it. Highlighting the issue of these two blameworthy traits, arrogance and envy, in the ethics of a Muslim servant, as they are major causes of deviating from the true belief. A believer's faith is not complete except with good manners, as there is an inherent connection between creed and virtuous ethics. A correct creed leads its holder to noble manners and helps them avoid their vices. Engaging in bad ethics has an influence on deviating from the true belief that the servant should adhere to. Explaining the different types of arrogance and envy enables the Muslim servant to have a clear understanding and not be confused about these matters. By highlighting the impact of arrogance and envy on creedal deviation, the Muslim servant becomes aware of avoiding these harmful traits and diseases that can afflict their creed and correct methodology. They strive diligently to remove the psychological cause that leads to these blameworthy traits, which is the issue of the self (ego) that triggers arrogance and envy within the individual. Clarifying the legitimate treatment for these blameworthy traits and dangerous afflictions on the servant, we say: Whoever reads the Quran and follows the Prophet's (peace be upon him) Sunnah will find them abundant in the vocabulary of noble ethics. It is fitting for the Muslim to pay attention to themselves, nurture them based on what Allah, the Most High, and His Prophet (peace be upon him) have shown us regarding their qualities, and purify themselves from what is unworthy of them as a Muslim honored with knowledge of Allah and His legislation.

This research is based on three fundamental ideas:

First idea: Clarifying the meaning of legitimate arrogance and envy and their classifications.

Second idea: Investigating the effects of arrogance and envy on deviating from the correct creed.

Third idea: The legitimate treatment for that.

Based on these three fundamental ideas, this research was conducted to highlight the legitimate meaning, classifications, and the effects of deviating from the creed, as well as the treatment necessary. It emphasizes the need to contemplate and reflect on these ideas and to avoid them in the practical reality of a Muslim's life.
