Abstract

The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of KWL strategy on developing the literary appreciation skills in literary texts among tenth grade female students. To achieve the research objective, the Quasi Experimental Design was used. The sample of the research was selected using intentionally technique and consisted of (60) female students. An achievement test was constructed to measure literary appreciation skills in literary texts and administrated on the subjects after confirming the validity and reliability.  After conducting statistical analyzes using the statistical program (SPSS), the findings of the research showed the following: 1- There is the effect size value of using KWL strategy on developing the literary appreciation skills was found high value. 2- There were statistically significant differences at (0.05) between mean scores of the experimental and the control groups' scores in achievement post-test of literary appreciation skills in favor of the experimental group. 3- There were statistically significant differences at (0.05) between mean scores of the experimental group's scores in the pre and post applications of the achievement test of literary appreciation skills in favor of post application.  According to the research's results, the most important recommendation was the KWL strategy should be used by teachers for teaching literary texts for tenth grade students.
