Abstract

This research aims to reveal the poetic sources of parallelism in the collection of Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad, entitled (Al-Durr Al-Manzoum for Those with Intellects and Understandings). To achieve this goal, the research made use of poetic propositions...etc. It is the most appropriate in analyzing the potentials of creativity in employing parallelism. The nature of the topic required that the research proceed in an introduction, a preface, and two sections. As for the introduction, it meant presenting a theoretical conception of poetics, both in terms and concepts. The first section directed the analysis of the poetics of parallelism in similar structures, and the second section, the poetics of parallelism in heterogeneous structures. He reached a number of results, the most prominent of which are: that parallelism in the poetry collection represents a dominant phenomenon; It was manifested on the horizontal and vertical levels, and the parallel structures varied between similar structures and heterogeneous structures. The diversity of structures indicates the diversity of poetic parallelism in Diwan Al-Haddad. The parallelism, with its balanced rhythmic energy, came to support the external rhythm, in addition to being compatible with Sufi oral chanting reception, and taking into account the educational and preaching requirement. This is because most of the poems in the collection are either entreaties, or codifications of the instructions of Sufism, or commandments and warnings against violating the spiritual approach.
