Effectiveness of an Educational Program Based on Principles and Applications of Green Chemistry on Developing Awareness of Renewable Resources among Secondary Stage Students

This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of an educational program based on principles of green chemistry and its applications on developing awareness of renewable resources among secondary stage students at Ibb schools. The descriptive method was used for constructing the Educational program and the experimental method was used for conducting the study. The sample of the study consisted of (35) female students selected purposively from secondary third grade of public schools in Ibb City. To achieve the objectives of the study, the list of principles of green chemistry and its applications was prepared and the Educational program based on principles of green chemistry was constructed according to the global model (ADDIE). To collect data, a renewable resources knowledge test of and an attitude scale towards renewable resources were administrated on the study participants before applying the program and after applying program. The paired T Test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at (0.05) between mean scores of the participants in pre and post applications of the renewable resources knowledge test and attitude scale in favor of post application. Moreover, there was significant correlation at (0.05) between the scores of the participants in post-test and post-attitude scale. According to the study's results, the most important recommendation was the Educational program based on principles of green chemistry and its applications should be used for teaching secondary stage students at Ibb schools..
