The Use of Computer Assisted Translation “CAT” Tools by Translators in Yemen

Abstract

In the past, to translate a single document or even one page indicates that you have a very tough task to fulfill. It needs all your time, knowledge, and efforts. In the modern age, everything changed, translation technology developed every day and night. Till it reached the present situation, CAT tools came to surface to make the life of translators easier as they can fulfill more tasks in an accurate way and short time. There are several programs made to be used translators such as: SmartCAT, MateCat or OmegaT. Any translator needs training in CAT tools or at least one of them. Yemeni translators are of need to use these modern CAT tools. This research is carried out to find out to what extent Yemeni translators are aware of these tools and use them in their translation.
