Study and Investigation of "Surah Al-Mumtahana" from the book (Revelation Topics and Key Ways of Interpretation ) by the author Yahya bin Al-Qasim bin Amr Al-Alawi

Abstract

This research aims to identify and introduce the author Yahya bin Al-Qasim bin Amr Al-Alawi who passed away (in the year seven hundred and fifty AH) . He was known as "The Yemeni Virtuous). In terms of defining his personal and scholarly life, clarifying his scholarly status and scientific output, and his book “Revelation Topics and Key ways of Interpretation ”, defining his approach in interpreting and investigating Surat Al-Mumtahna, through the explanation and interpretation clarified in the book above. The importance of this study lies in revealing what this manuscript holds  of valuable knowledge and to facilitate its use among students of science. The researcher used the historical inductive approach in defining the author and the book, as well as the descriptive approach by presenting the author's approach, and the investigation method. The results of the study are: 1- The author, Yahya Al-Alawi, has a great scientific stature, due to his abundance of knowledge in interpretation, grammar, rhetoric, and others; 2-The book contained valuable scientific material, and was characterized by an easy-to-follow style, which makes it suitable for specialists and non-specialists; and 3-The author used the best methods, as he combined in his interpretation between aphorism and praiseworthy opinion.
