Abstract

This study seeks to reveal how the threshold of the title is formed in the novels of Muhammad Abdul Wali, and its functional role in the reception process, and how it relates to the text and the reader, and its relationship to them, to reveal the level of maturity of the Yemeni novel and narrative awareness in the sixties and seventies that are represented by the novels of Muhammad Abdul Wali. This research was divided into a preface, and two sections. The preface included an overview of the stages of the development of the title in the Yemeni novel. The first topic it was concerned with the threshold of the title in the novel "They Die Strangers". While the second topic dealt with the threshold of the title in the novel "Sana'a, an open city". Among the most important findings of the study is that the threshold of the title in the novels of Muhammad Abdul Wali has exceeded the direct significance to the use of the symbol in an elaborate artistic manner, and the function of naming has been exceeded to the rest of the functions of the title, which indicates the awareness of the narrative at this stage of the aesthetic and artistic value of the threshold of the title, and its role In directing the meaning of the text, and the reading process.
