Abstract

Arabic language has got several properties, one of these properties is that its letters have many functions and meanings. When these letters are attached to a single word, they may have more than one meaning according to the different contexts in which indicated. The Grammarians, an old and modern, tracked such issues, and wrote several books about them. This study focused on the areas of rectification on Ibn al-Khabbaz in his commenting on Ibn Jinni in his book Al-Lama’ in the Chapter on nouns and the five verbs that are parsed by letters that replace of the original sign. The researcher adopted the descriptive – analytical method. The research was divided into four chapters: duality and masculine plural, the six nouns, and the five verbs. This research concluded the most important findings including what as rectified by Ibn al-Khabbaz about what is parsed by letters instead of the original sign. Did not come to set a new rule in the science of grammar, or to establish a grammatical rule in which they disagree, but rather came with his comment to try to encompass most of the rules and laws of the Arabic language. Ibn al-Khabbaz's corrections on Ibn Jinni were also represented in the chapters on what is parsed by particles in letters instead of the original grammatical signs, demonstrating what was ambiguous, or detailing what was outlined, or opposing an opinion, and this confirms his deep ground knowledge in grammar. Ibn Al-Khabbaz justified that verbs are not doubled due to their indication of an event and time, as well as letters that are not doubled because making dual is a form of morphology, and letters are solid and are not subject to morphological changes. As for the six nouns, they are parsed by particles because they are similar to the dual and the plural.
