Intertextuality in Legislative Provisions and Terminology of their sciences in Poetry of Prophetic Praises in Arabic Island and Levant: From the Middle of the Seventh Century to the End of the Ninth Century AH)

Abstract

This study aimed to address intertextuality in legislative  provisions and their related terms in the poetry of prophetic praise in the Arab Peninsula and Levant during the period (650-900 AH) to know the extent of commonness of this phenomenon, its types and mechanisms, purposes, semantic and aesthetic dimensions, and the way it is used. To this end, a strategy of intertextuality, based on the analysis of texts that showed interrelationships with previous texts in different ways and mechanisms, was used. The research included an introduction, two sections and conclusions. The introduction dealt with the concept of prophetic praise, the reasons for its evolution in the Middle Ages, definition of intertextuality in the Arabic criticism. The first section was devoted to study intertextuality in legislative provisions while the second one was devoted to address the terminology of legislative sciences. It was found that intertextuality in legislative provisions and their related terminology in the poetry of prophetic praise constituted a prominent phenomenon as poets expressed their meanings in new figures to attract receivers. The forms of intertextuality in those provisions and terminology were absorptive and indicative. Similarly, there were various aesthetic elements in the texts that showed intertextuality to reflect the poets' culture of those provisions and terminology, and to demonstrate their moral and artistic ability to create new images.
