The Situation of Scientific Research in the Field of Humanities in Yemen: Ibb University as a Model

Abstract

The research aimed to study the situation of the scientific research in the field of humanities in Yemen. Ibb University was taken as a model and the descriptive approach was adopted in the research which is divided into two sections; the first: the importance of the research in the field of humanities and social sciences and its role in the development of Yemeni society, the second: the situation of the scientific research in humanities and social sciences in Yemen. It ended with a conclusion with the results. The results showed that: the absence of an organized, purposeful and clear national research strategy. The focus was on the university’s teaching role, neglecting the scientific research function and the prevalence of a limited outlook that reduces the role of the humanities and social sciences in the process of community development.
