Abstract

This study addresses the issue of perceived contradictions between verses of the Holy Quran, aiming to refute these misconceptions raised by critics who seek to cast doubts about the Book of Allah. The study focuses specifically on resolving the apparent contradictions in verses related to initiating jihad as interpreted by two Yemeni exegetes: Mohammed bin Al-Hadi Al-Yahyawi Al-Zaidi and Muhammad bin Ali Al-Mawziai Al-Shafi'i through their books Al-Anwar Al-Mudiya fi Tafsir Al-Ayat Al-Shar'iya and Taysir Al-Bayan li Ahkam Al-Quran. The study is divided into an introduction, two main sections, and a conclusion. The introduction defines research terminology. The first section describes the two scholars and their books. The second section examines verses with apparent contradictions across three subsections, arranged according to the Quranic order. It explained the perceived contradictions, presents the scholars' interpretation, identifies their preferences and agreements with other scholars, and weighs different opinions with justification. The inductive, analytical, and comparative methods were employed. The study concluded with several findings and recommendations included in the conclusion.

This required the researcher to adopt three methodologies: inductive, analytical, and comparative. Finally, I arrived at several conclusions and recommendations, which are included in the conclusion.
