This research addresses the issue of the perceived contradiction between the verses of the Holy Qur'an. It aims to refute this misconception, which critics use to raise doubts and suspicions about the Book of Allah. In this study, I have limited the scope to addressing the perceived contradiction between the verses related to the initiation of jihad as interpreted by two Yemeni scholars: Muhammad ibn al-Hadi al-Yahyaawi al-Zaidi and Muhammad ibn Ali al-Mawza’i al-Shafi’i, through their respective works Al-Anwar al-Mudiya fi Tafsir al-Ayat al-Shar'iya and Tayseer al-Bayan li Ahkam al-Qur'an. The study highlights their efforts in this area, compares their approaches, and is divided into an introduction, a preface, two chapters, and a conclusion.
In the preface, I define the key terms used in the research. The first chapter provides a brief introduction to the two scholars and their respective works. In the second chapter, I examine the verses that appear to present a contradiction, dividing this examination into three sections, organized according to the order of the Qur'an. I present the apparent contradictions and then discuss what the two scholars mentioned from the sayings of other scholars to resolve these contradictions. I analyze and compare their selections and the opinions of those who agreed with them, before ultimately determining the most sound opinion and providing reasoning for this preference.
This required the researcher to adopt three methodologies: inductive, analytical, and comparative. Finally, I arrived at several conclusions and recommendations, which are included in the conclusion.
