The Role of Egypt in the Yemeni Revolution 1962 – 1967: A Historical Study

Abstract

This study aimed to show the significant role of Egypt in supporting the Yemeni Revolution (1962 – 1967) and defending it from its inside and outside enemies. It was addressed in three areas. The first area was about the announcement of the Yemeni Revolution and its goals; the second area discussed the basic tenets required for building the new Yemen in educational, military, and social aspects; and the third area dealt with the role of Abdulnaser in defending the Yemeni Revolution. The study concluded that Abdulnaser played a great role in protecting the revolution from the major threats of Imamism remains, on the one hand, and the Saudi ruling system that supported them, on the other. Although the revolution was exposed to threats in 1967, resulted in Assabein blockade, the young revolutionists defeated the reaction forces. Despite the fact that the revolutionists were assassinated between the years 1968 and 1969, the revolution triumphed in all stages due to both struggle and great support of Egypt in military and educational fields, social progress, and national awareness.
