Abstract

The research aims to analyze the phenomenon of academic migration between Arab countries by highlighting its size, the most important exporting and receiving countries and the negative effects of both. The content analysis approach is adopted using the directory of names of faculty members in Arab universities and their specializations issued by the secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities in Amman in 1996. The research is organized as an Introduction followed by four sections; The first: Background, the second: The Theoretical Framework., third is: Method and Procedures, the fourth is: The Negative Effects of the Migration of Academics on the Countries of Origin and the Countries of Reception. The four sections are followed by The Results.   The most important results are that: The volume of academic migration between Arab countries represents 7% of the total faculty members in the Arab countries, distributed among scientific specializations and holding the highest academic titles. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the UAE represent, respectively, the most important importing countries, and Egypt, Iraq, and Sudan represent the most important exporting countries.
