Abstract

The research aimed to trace the patterns of the introduction to the poem in political poetry in the Umayyad era. The inductive-analytical approach was adopted and the research came in four sections; the first: The type that rebels against the traditional premise and declares its revolution, the second: The type that rebels against the premise that is not declared. the third: The type that uses the introduction for a purely political purpose, the fourth: The type that adheres to the traditional approach.

The most important results are: The styles of the introduction to the poem in Umayyad political poetry varied from a traditional style to a style that rebelled against it, whether explicitly stated or not. However, what is new in the styles is the use of the introduction for a political purpose.
