The research aimed to define criminal liability and reveal the impact of ignorance, error, and forgetfulness on it. The descriptive approach was used and the research was divided into; an introduction and four sections; the first: criminal liability in Islamic law, the second: the subject of criminal liability, the third: the cause and degrees of liability, the fourth: the effect of ignorance, error, and forgetfulness on criminal liability. The most important results were that: ignorance affects criminal liability in some cases and does not affect it in others. As for the error, it is effective in cases other than money and blood, either by exemption from punishment or by mitigation. As for forgetfulness, in the right of God it may be considered an excuse, but it is not considered an excuse in the rights of the people.
