Degree of availability linguistic skills in students of the Departments of Arabic Language at Ibb University

Abstract

The present research aimed to identify the degree of the linguistics skills available among the students of Arabic language departments in the faculties of Education & Arts at Ibb University. The Descriptive method was used. The sample of the research consisted of (28) final-year students from language Arabic departments in the faculties of Education & Art at Ibb University.  To achieve the research objectives, a list of basic linguistics skills of (48) skills was prepared and distributed among four skills: listening, spoken, reading, and writing. Then, an achievement test of (34) items was constructed and an observation card of (17) skills was constructed. The data collected was analyzed using one sample “t” test and Sabir man correlation coefficient.  The result of the research showed that the degree of linguistics skills available among the participants was medium with a percent of (77.1%). According to the research's results, the most important recommendation was to develop the linguistic skills of students of Arabic language departments in the faculties of Education & Arts at Ibb University by adopting scientific activities.
