Nature and Its Direct and Indirect Role in Architecture: Form and Content

Abstract

The research aimed to address the holistic impact of the nature on architecture. It followed the descriptive-analytical approach. The research is divided into four sections; the first: research methodology, the second: the designer’s position on nature, the third: levels of inspiration from nature and the fourth: results and recommendations. The results showed that, nature is a source of inspiration for the designer at the level of form, the relationships of forms and the laws that govern them. The designer’s inspiration from nature should be based on the creativity of internal and external requirements, the structure of forms and their geometry, and the laws inherent in nature that contribute to the logical development of specific shapes and not on the basis of formal imitation of external characteristics.
