The research aimed to evaluate the role of the learner-centered approach in language teaching for the development of the English language learner in Faculties of Arts. The research dealt with English language courses taught as university requirements, which are the two important requirements for university education. The descriptive-analytical approach was adopted and the main findings of this research were that a foreign language course designed with a learner-centered focus not only helps learners increase their proficiency in using the language, but also allows them to develop some strategies for “learning how to learn”. This, in fact, promotes the development of learner independence and encourages students to take responsibility for their learning and become independent learners. In addition to a certain level of language proficiency, learners should leave the course with a better understanding of the language and of themselves as language users and learners both personally and professionally.
