The research aimed to find out the extent of the effect of the feathering speed gene (K) on some productive traits of local chickens in Iraq in an attempt to include it within the poultry breeding and improvement program that aims to create a breed specific to Iraq. The experimental approach was adopted and the research is divided into three sections; first: an introduction, the second: materials and methods of work, the third: the results and their discussion. The results showed that fast-fed chickens are morally better than slow-fed chickens in most of the economic characteristics studied. Therefore, conducting complementary studies on local chickens for the purpose of establishing a local breed specific to the Iraqi country is recommended.
