The study aims to evaluate the current efforts to combat illiteracy in Yemen and identify the requirements for their activation, development, and addressing the challenges faced by these efforts. The historical, descriptive-analytical approach was adopted. The study is divided into an introduction, three chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter discussed the study's terminology and previous studies. The second chapter focused on the theoretical framework and the historical context of the adult education movement in Yemen, as well as the current situation of literacy eradication. The third chapter examined the field study procedures. The study showed that basic education was unable to accommodate all children of school age. It was also concluded that the efforts to combat illiteracy were inadequate due to poor planning, implementation measures, funding, and coordination between official and grassroots initiatives.
